There are many reasons to become a Universidade Federal do Cariri Student.

The Universidade Federal do Cariri (UFCA) is one of the newest university of the state of Ceará, in northeast of Brazil. A brazilian public university that´s conducting research in sustainable development, biotechnology, information technology and management, health and many other areas of knowledgement.

Undergraduate Freshmen

Created in 2013, by federal law the Universidade Federal do Cariri offers 25 undergraduate programs in all areas of knowledge: natural sciences, health sciences, humanities, arts, communications and social sciences. Distributed in 4 (four) Campi: Juazeiro do Norte, Barbalha, Crato and Brejo Santo.You can study as a regular student or you can apply for one or two academic periods (semesters) as an exchange student.

There are two ways of being admitted to a undergraduate course at Universidade Federal do Cariri as a higher school student:

  • Candidates through entrance test process

Candidates of foreign nationality can also participate in examination process from Unified Selection System (Sistema de Seleção Unificada-Sisu) of Brazil Ministry of Education, using a grade from ENEM (ENEM-Exame Nacional de Ensino Médio). In this way, you need to submit the Statement of Equality of Studies.

  • Program for Partner Graduate Students (PEC-G)(Only for Latin America, Africa and Caribbean students)

International Students

The courses taught in UFCA are in Portuguese. We consider any student who is neither a Brazilian citizen nor Brazil permanent resident to be an international student.  Contact our International Cooperation Office for more information about application procedures by email to: international@ufca.edu.br

Undergraduate Short-Term Courses

International undergraduate students from foreign universities holding a Cooperation Agreement with the Universidade Federal do Cariri can study for one or two semesters with no tuition costs. In order to apply as an exchange student, your home institution must send the following documents by e-mail to sci@ufca.edu.br:

  • 1. UFCA Mobility Student Application Form (Portuguese/English version); (doc.) or (pdf.)
  • 2. Recommendation Letter written by the student´s home university;
  • 3. Official Transcript of records translated into English to Portuguese and acknowledged by the student’s institution;
  • 4. Copy of the passport page that contains personal data (copy in PDF file format);
  • 5. ID Picture (in .jpg file format), maximum size 50kb.

Application Deadlines

  1. October 15th: for exchange in the first semester of each year (classes from March to June).
  2. May 15th: for the exchange in the second semester of each year (classes from August to December).

Student Visa information

Once accepted to an mobility period at UFCA, the International Cooperation Office (Secretaria de Cooperação Internacional) will send you the Letter of Acceptance, which is necessary for the Student Visa (“Temporário IV” or VITEM-IV), to be requested from the Brazilian diplomatic representation by the student in his/her home country.

To conclude the enrollment, the student’s home university must send to UFCA the proper Student’s Visa and a copy of the life and health insurance paper.

Students with a tourist visa can not be enrolled in courses at UFCA.

Tuition Fees and Financial Aid

UFCA is a public higher education institution that does not charge any fees from the students. For this reason, grants are generally not available for international students.

Accommodation

Until now UFCA does not provide housing facilities for exchange students.

International Mobility Programs

UFCA offers undergraduate programs in the university has four campuses.

Undergraduate Programs

Campus of Juazeiro work thirteen majors courses (Accounting, Business Management, Public Policy & Management, Library Science, Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, Computer Science, Computational Mathematics, Brazilian Sign Language Studies, Design, Philosophy, Music, Communication) and two graduate degree courses Master´s Degree Professional in Librarianship and Master´s Degree in Mathematics.

 In the Barbalha Campus runs major degree in Medicine and graduate Master´s Degree in Health Science, Master´s Degree in Medical Residency and Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Program (Master and Doctoral)

The campus of Crato, runs the major degree in Agronomy and Master’s Degree in Sustainable Regional Development.

The Brejo Santo Campus hosts the Profesor Training Institute running majors degree in biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics.

International students can choose between short-term studies and internships. Until now UFCA does not have a Double Degree Program.

In the Barbalha Campus runs undergraduate degree in Medicine and on the campus of Crato, the undergraduate degree in Agronomy. The Brejo Santo Campus hosts the Teachers Training Institute. International students can choose between short-term studies and internships. Until now UFCA does not have a Double Degree Program.
