The Universidade Federal do Cariri offers 25 undergraduate courses to all 3,465 students regularly enrolled in the institution. The courses are offered in licentiate and bachelor degrees, in all major areas of knowledge, full time and evening. In 2020 two new courses start Veterinary Medicine and Pedagogy. UFCA has 326 professors, 89% of whom are already masters or doctors in their fields. These are aided by technical laboratories and all four libraries with more than 25,000 copies spread throughout the university campuses, thus working to provide public education of quality.
UFCA receives international students as part of mobility programs and cooperation agreements established with other universities. The students can attend UFCA for up to three academic semesters. The qualification is awarded by the university of origin, which issues a certificate showing performance in disciplines at UFCA.
Both undergraduate and postgraduate students can take part in an international mobility program, as long as they are duly enrolled in a foreign institute of higher education with which UFCA has a agreement of academic cooperation. Students have to submit evidence of oral and written proficiency in Portuguese, such that they will be able to follow UFCA lessons.
Entrance Examination
Prospective undergraduate degree seeking students from all over the world must sit an entrance test (called “SISU” or “Vestibular”), which is administered by Ministry of Education (MEC) of Brazil.
All the exams are held in Portuguese, and in Brazil.
In order to become a fully enrolled student on an undergraduate course at UFCA, international students also need to sit the vestibular or Sisu, in the same way as Brazilian students.
Student Agreement Programme – Undergraduate e Postgraduate (PEC-G and PEC-PG)
The Undergraduate and Postgraduate Student Agreement Program is the result of cultural, scientific and technological cooperation agreements signed between developing countries with a view to building up human resources. It allows students, university teachers, researchers, professionals and graduates of higher education from developing countries to study in Brazil.
Brazilian embassies in those countries are responsible for promoting the program and initiating the selection process.
